L'Appassionata was founded in 2019 around the activities of the Gaspari Foundation as a group of outstanding talents devoted to the in-depth study of the chamber orchestra repertoire.

Its musicians have trained at the most important musical institutions throughout Europe and regularly perform with leading Italian orchestras such as the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI, the Filarmonica della Scala, the Haydn Orchestra of Bolzano, and the Orchestra of the Teatro Regio of Turin.

Tommaso Benciolini, founder and artistic director

Tommaso Benciolini

Winner of the New York Respighi Prize 2017, he debuted at Carnegie Hall in 2018. He has performed as a soloist at Suntory Hall in Tokyo, the Berlin Philharmonie, the Vienna Musikverein, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Tonhalle in Zurich and the Mozarteum in Salzburg. Founder of L'Appassionata, he is professor of flute at the Bonporti Conservatory in Trento.

Lorenzo Gugole, founding member and concertmaster

Lorenzo Gugole

A graduate of the Verona Conservatory, who pursued advanced studies in Leeds and Paris. One of the founders of L'Appassionata, with which he regularly performs as soloist and concertmaster. He collaborates with major Italian orchestras including the Orchestra of Teatro alla Scala, the RAI National Symphony Orchestra and the Venice Baroque Orchestra. He teaches Baroque violin at the Tomadini Conservatory in Udine.

Elisa Spremulli, founding member and concertmaster

Elisa Spremulli

She graduated at age 16 from the Venezze Conservatory in Rovigo with the highest marks and honours, and earned her Master of Arts at the Conservatory of Italian Switzerland under Klaidi Sahatci. Founding member and concertmaster of L'Appassionata, she also serves as Concertino of the First Violins at Teatro La Fenice. Since 2025 she is professor of violin at the Carlo Gesualdo da Venosa Conservatory in Potenza.
