
An Armenian-born cellist born in Yerevan in 1977 and trained in the United Kingdom, Alexander Chaushian is internationally admired for the refinement and intensity of his sound. He studied at the Yehudi Menuhin School, the Guildhall School in London and the Hanns Eisler Hochschule in Berlin.
His awards include prizes at the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow and the ARD Competition in Munich. He has appeared with orchestras such as the Royal Philharmonic and the Philharmonia, in halls including Wigmore Hall, Carnegie Hall and the Vienna Konzerthaus, and is especially devoted to championing Armenian music. He is currently professor of cello at the Yehudi Menuhin School.
On 15 June he joins Anna Tifu as a soloist at Mozart Evenings.
